Tiu birdo havas grandan bekon, grandan ebenan kapon, kaj mallongan forkoforman voston. Ili havas brunajn suprajn partojn kaj blankajn subajn partojn, kun strieco en dorso, brusto kaj flankoj. La vizaĝo, nuko kaj kronostrio estas flavecaj. La kruroj estas rozkolorecaj.

Ties reprodukta habitato estas prerio de altaj herboj en suda centra Kanado kaj nordokcidenta Usono. La nesto estas malferma tasformo en bone kaŝita herba situo surgrunda.

Tiuj birdoj migras al sudokcidenta Usono kaj norda Meksiko.
