William Jackson Hooker
Siro William Jackson HOOKER (6-an de julio 1785 en Norwich - mortis la 12-an de aŭgusto 1865 en Kew) estis brita botanikisto. Lia oficiala botanikista aŭtora mallongigo estas „Hook.“.
Li okupiĝis pri florplantoj, filikoj kaj muskoj kaj estis grava botanikisto de sia epoko.
Vivo
Hooker travojaĝis Islandon en 1809 pro botanika interesiĝo kaj baldaŭ iĝis profesoro pri botaniko en Glasgow kaj en 1839 superintendento de la Reĝa Botanika Ĝardeno en Kew.
Lia filo Joseph Dalton Hooker estis same grava botanikisto.
Meritoj
Li iĝis en 1812 membro de la Reĝa Societo.
La genroj Hookeria kaj × Hookerara estis nomataj post li, same la arbo Crinodendron hookerianum.
