Tiu entrepreno fondiĝis la 27an de januaro de 1927 kiel United Independent Broadcasters, Inc., kiam estis estrata de la agento Arthur Judson kaj stablita en Novjorko. En aprilo de 1927 eknomiĝis Columbia Phonographic Broadcasting System, Inc., ĉar Columbia Phonographic Manufacturing Company (entrepreno de Columbia Records) iĝis ties ĉefa investisto. La 18an de septembro de 1927 la entrepreno ekelsendis per 16 stacioj aliĝintaj.
