Thierry and Dirck: one or two persons?

Hello there,

Sorry for writing in English, but I hope you will understand me. With this edit at Wikidata, Jane023 merged information about this Thierry Barentz into the information about nl:Dirck Barendsz.. As the eo-article relies heavily on templates, the infobox now shows a lot of information of Dirck, which might or might not be information about Thierry. At least the article now states two years of birth (1534, which is confirmed to be Dirck's, and 1551) and two years of death (1592 and 1593), whilst the RKD only gives a date for Dirck's burial.

In the past this article has been nominated as being fake by Icodense99. A few days later that nomination has been removed, but no reference to any proof has been given. The link to BOUILLET does not bring me any information about Thierry Barentz (nor Dirck Barentsz.).

No other Wikipedia, not even the Dutch one, does have an article on Thierry Barentz. Who can clearify this situation? Thanks in advance, RonnieV (diskuto) 21:07, 14 feb. 2020 (UTC)

As far as I can see:

• It seems to be the same person. Thierry and Dirck are variants of the same name (Theodoric), most of the data matches, and I see no evidence of any separate person Thierry B. anywhere.
• The birth date 1551 seems just plain wrong.
• In Dec. 2018, the Eo article stub was created with some bad and unchecked claims, from where they appear to have spread. It seems translated from

a French Wp stub from Jan. 2006, which claims to be based on a dictionary "Bouillet" from 1885.

I would consider that Dec. 2018 resp. Jan. 2006 article stub as unreliable and suggest to disregard/undo all info that originates from it if it cannot be supported from other sources.
