Gottlieb Vilmos Leitner [vilmoŝ lejtner], laŭ hungarlingve kutima nomordo Leitner Gottlieb Vilmos estis hungara-brita orientalisto, pedagogo, membro ekstera de Hungara Scienca Akademio (1).

Gottlieb Vilmos Leitner [1] naskiĝis la 14-an de oktobro 1840 en Pest (urbo). Li mortis la 23-an de marto 1899 en Bonn.

Gottlieb Vilmos Leitner devenis el juda familio. Li frue translokiĝis al Konstantinopolo, kie li lernis Koranon. Li frekventis mezlernejon en Malto. Dum la Krimea milito li estis kolonelo kaj interpretisto en la brita armeo. En 1855 li parolis ankaŭ germane angle, ,france, itale, greke, turke, arabe, perse. Post la milito ĝis 1859 li plulernis en King's College. En 1862 li ekinstruis en universitato de Freiburg. Post 3 jaroj li translokiĝis al Lahore, kie li fondis lernejojn, bibliotekon, societon, gazeton, krome li esplorvojaĝis al Kaŝmiro, Tibeto. Li ricevis aŭstran premion en 1871. Post 3 jaroj li iĝis rektoro en Lahore.
