Stema comunei Cernat, judeţul Covasna, se compune dintr-un scut triunghiular cu marginile rotunjite, tăiat albastru-argint. În câmpul superior, din linia despărţitoare se înalţă un turn crenelat, cu trei creneluri, de argint, având poarta boltită neagră, flancată din partea dextră de un soare figurat, de aur, iar din cea senestră de o semilună crescătoare, de asemenea figurată, de argint, înconjurată de trei stele cu câte şase colţuri, de aur. În câmpul inferior se află un braţ armat, îndoit în cot, ţinând în mână o sabie, în bară, totul de culoare neagră.

Scutul este timbrat cu o coroană murală de argint cu un turn crenelat.

Semnificaţiile elementelor însumate ale stemei

Turnul crenelat simbolizează cetatea "Ciuntită", denumită şi "Ika", aflată în comună. Soarele şi semiluna sunt simboluri specifice zonei, cele trei stele fac referire la numărul satelor aparţinătoare comunei. Partea inferioară face referire la stema familiei Damokos.

Coroana murală cu un turn crenelat semnifică faptul că localitatea are rangul de comună.
