En Brazilo estas ŝtata ekzameno por oni uzi la titolon "advokato" kaj agi profesie. Ĉiuj kiuj sukcesas diplomon de juraj studoj ricevas la titolon "bakalaŭro pri juro", sed ne rajtas advokacii sen ŝtata ekzameno nomata "ekzameno de ordeno". Juristo en Brazilo, sekve, estas simpla sinonimo de advokato.

En Aŭstrio Juristo" estas tiu, kiu sukcesis la diplomon de juraj studoj kaj ricevis la akademian gradon de Magister iuris (malina) aŭ Magistra iuris (ina).
